Kim Kardashian attempted to buy a piece of her family’s history—her late father Robert Kardashian Sr.’s inscribed bible, once gifted to O.J. Simpson. Unfortunately, her $15,000 offer was rejected. Instead, the bible sold at auction on March 29th for a winning bid of $65,800, totaling $80,276 with the buyer’s premium, according to Goldin Auctions.
The Bible, part of Goldin’s O.J. Simpson Collection, attracted 49 bids, with 14 placed on the final day. Malcolm LaVergne, executor of Simpson’s estate, confirmed the sale but did not disclose the buyer’s identity. Therefore, it’s likely that Kim may have been the lucky bidder.
LaVergne previously explained to People, “The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money—why would I spend $15,000 in attorney’s fees—to sell it to Kim for $15,000? That’s a zero-sum game. That’s a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would’ve been in court getting this approved outside of the auction.”
Robert Kardashian Sr., who famously defended Simpson in his 1995 murder trial, signed the bible on June 18th, 1994, the day after Simpson’s arrest. His inscription read, “This book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.”
