“We are grateful for the local community, which has supported us for over 18 years, and we recognize that this closure negatively impacts our Associates and their families,” Chief Operating Officer Danny Warwick said. “Additionally, this location remains a busy and profitable one for the company, but our top priority must be the safety and wellbeing of our customers and associates. We cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment.”
The fast-food company mentioned that they have made multiple attempts to address and prevent crime, but these efforts have not been successful in ensuring safety. The Oakland Police Department has not yet provided a statement regarding the reported incidents at the restaurant. However, data compiled by the San Francisco Chronicle reveals a total of nine robberies, two commercial burglaries, four domestic violence incidents, and a staggering 1,174 car break-ins at this location.
The final day for customers to enjoy burgers, fries, and shakes at the Oakport Street location is scheduled for March 24th. This particular location has been in operation for a span of 18 years. As for current employees, In-N-Out has announced that those individuals will have the option to transfer to other nearby locations or receive a severance package as part of the company’s measures.
