Forever President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are taking their talents to Netflix, and for their first project, the two are adapting a book about the circus act that is the Trump Administration.
According to the New York Times, the Obamas and their production company, Higher Ground, have secured the rights to Michael Lewis’ book, “The Fifth Risk,” as their first known acquisition since the forever first couple signed their Netflix deal in May.
Lewis announced the news on Katie Couric’s podcast on Thursday, revealing his book, as well as the potential series would be “a civics lesson” of sorts. In fact, a spokesperson for the production company confirmed that the project would focus on the civics lessons from the book to help people better understand the government, but added that it would not take shots at Trump.
Instead, it will be a “humorous series demystifying the little-known ways in which federal agencies improve our lives and serve our nation from the food we eat to the planes we travel on.”
As for the actual book, “The Fifth Risk,” according to the publication, follows the “haphazard” transition from the Obama administration to Trumps, “as inexperienced appointees take over important bureaucratic jobs.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
