The fallout between the New York Giants and Odell Beckham Jr. was ugly in his opinion.
Beckham sat down with teammate Marlon Humphrey on his “Punch Line Podcast” for the latest episode that was full of fireworks. He discussed how the Cleveland Browns traded defensive back Jabrill Peppers and draft picks to New York for him a few seasons ago.
OBJ felt like the New York Giants sent him to Cleveland out of spite, coordinating the trade while he was overseas. “There is semi a bit of me that feels like the Giants sent me off. I’ve said it before, sent me off to Cleveland to die,” OBJ said. “You know, they could have, I could’ve went to 49ers, I could have went to the Patriots. I could’ve went to them(teams) that had, you know a chance to be great and that’s not what the desire was.”
He added that he knew there were better trade packages and accepted this package to go against his desires.
“Kind of f&*^%$ me over a little bit, you felt like I made a fool of you or the organization. That was never my intention,” Beckham said. “I’m just that competitive like I wanted to win. I always want to win, I’m tired of being six and ten. We haven’t done anything to make changes. Eli’s going out you know, I’m texting Eli like ‘you’re seventh on the list for the greatest of all time,’ Like I want to be, I want to see Eli go out with another Super Bowl.”
The off-field antics were blurred in between with his passion, he believes. Leaving Cleveland for Los Angeles, tearing his ACL in the 2022 Super Bowl and inevitably winning his first big one even though he was injured in the first quarter. His impact the whole season was seen, He has another opportunity to win a second Championship with teammate Marlon Humphrey and the Baltimore Ravens before the Giants win a playoff game.
