On Tuesday at Liberty High School in Osceola County, Florida, a school resource officer was caught on surveillance slamming a young Black woman’s body to the ground in an outside breezeway.
In the video posted to Twitter, you can see the young woman’s head bounce off the pavement with an audible thump as her body goes limp. The officer continues to arrest her while her body laid motionless on the ground.
Nearby you can hear one student yelling at the officer, “What the f**k is wrong with you?!”
During a press release issued yesterday evening, the Osceola County sheriff’s office confirmed that the agency employed the officer and that the investigation is still in its initial stages.
“We are collecting video, witness statements, and relevant information related to the incident,” police said. “We know that the School Resource Officer was in the process of trying to stop the student from fighting another student in the hallway when the deputy took her into custody.”
