Yesterday, New York podcaster Tax Stone, 31, was arrested for his alleged connection with the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting that left one man dead. Initially, the details concerning Tax’s involvement were limited, however, officials have revealed that they found the New York native’s DNA on the murder weapon.
If you recall, the shooting occurred in May of 2016, in the third-floor green room of the East Village concert venue. Just before rapper, T.I. was scheduled to perform, chaos erupted inside the venue. Several shots were fired, striking three people, including rapper Troy Ave and his bodyguard, Ronald Mcphatter, who was killed.
On Monday, Tax Stone, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, was arrested without incident or any words. He now faces federal weapon possession charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Since the shooting, there were whispers about Campbell’s alleged involvement in the shooting. While, never confirmed, Campbell’s public feud with Troy Ave rasied a few eyebrows.
According to the NY Daily News, in the complaint against the 31-year-old personality, Campbell is not listed as McPhatter’s killer, however, it does allege that his DNA is on the murder weapon, along with McPhatter’s and Troy Ave’s. The complaint also discloses information about the gun. Apparently, the black .9-mm Kel-Tec was bought in Flordia, however, the original owner admitted to handing it over to one of Campbell’s acquaintances in New York, in October of 2015.
Campbell will be arraigned on Tuesday.
