Offset Honored With the Keys to Gwinnett County During His First Annual Toy Drive

Migos star Offset was honored with the key to Gwinnett County for his generosity within the community.

The “Clout” rapper received the prestigious honor during his inaugural Offset Toy Giveaway. The event took place ahead of Christmas Day on Friday, December 23rd. It was launched to provide families in his hometown of Lawrenceville, Georgia, with playthings for their children this holiday season. Given the current state of inflation, the toy drive was a welcome relief to families in the area who were struggling to provide gifts for their little ones.

The mayor of Lawrenceville, David Still, was in attendance and made sure he expressed his appreciation to the superstar by giving him the key to the county. Deeply humbled, the 31-year-old shared that his only motive for hosting the giveaway was to give back to his community.

“Thanks to all the kids for always supporting me and always listening to me and always just being there for me, you know,” Offset said in his speech to the crowd. He also expressed his appreciation for keeping him uplifted as he went through a “tough time,” referring to the untimely passing of his group mate, Takeoff.

Offset is looking forward to making the toy drive an annual part of Lawrenceville. While the gesture was admirable, he is no stranger to giving back. In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grammy-nominated rapper helped organize a charity fundraiser livestream for those in need following mass layoffs and business closings. In 2017, he launched a $500k fundraising campaign for the American Cancer Society in honor of his late grandmother, Sallie Ann Smith, who died in 2012 of bladder cancer.
