We may know why Offset is seeking spousal support from his estranged wife, Cardi B.
The rapper is drowning in debt, nearly $2 million, and it’s all catching up to him as his divorce drags on.
According to In Touch, the Georgia Department of Revenue filed a lien in March claiming Offset owes $294,712 in state taxes from 2021. That’s after penalties and interest ballooned an original bill of $167,916. But the bigger hit came months earlier. In April 2024, the IRS hit Offset with a federal tax lien for a jaw-dropping $1,572,266, also tied to 2021. Combined, the unpaid tax total sits at $1,866,978.73, and neither debt has been settled.
So it’s not surprising that Offset recently filed to request spousal support from his superstar ex. He also wants joint custody of their three kids, with Cardi’s home listed as the primary residence.
The split was announced in August 2024, with insiders telling TMZ the couple had “just disconnected.” Though sources called the breakup amicable, both would go on to accuse one another of infidelity.
In addition to his tax woes, Offset also faces a separate lawsuit from two men who claim he assaulted them in a 2020 strip club incident. They were awarded $232K in default judgments, which only adds to the rapper’s debt. He’s now trying to have the ruling overturned.
