In the early hours of Sunday, a rented home in Bath Township, just northwest of Akron, Ohio, became the scene of a shocking shooting during what began as a birthday party. Law enforcement reports confirm that nine people were injured, including juveniles.
Officers from the Bath Township Police Department say the event was held at the 900 block of Top O Hill Drive and had been promoted on social media, drawing a large crowd of mostly teenagers and young adults. Around 12:15 a.m., gunfire erupted on the first floor of the home; although all nine victims were transported to local hospitals, it remains unclear whether each was wounded by gunfire or injured in another way.
The residence was listed via Airbnb, though short‑term rentals are prohibited under local zoning in Bath Township. The company says it suspended the listing and removed the renter’s account immediately after the incident. One law‑enforcement official noted this marks the second shooting at an Airbnb rental in the township since 2017, underlining that no community is immune.
Investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are processing shell casings, reviewing video, and interviewing witnesses. No arrests have been reported, and the motive remains under investigation.
