An Ohio mother has been indicted on involuntary manslaughter and endangerment charges following the death of her second baby.
According to a press release obtained by Cincinnati local news affiliates WCPO-9 and FOX19, Brook Hunter‘s 6-week-old baby died on June 22. The Hamilton Prosecutor’s office revealed that the mother had allegedly been co-sleeping with the baby, which is when a parent sleeps close with their child, typically in a bed, couch, or chair.
Hunter’s first child died during the same sleeping practice a year prior. Assistant Prosecutor Amy Clausing said the mother was warned that co-sleeping with infants is dangerous after her first child’s death. However, the subsequent death of the 6-week-old infant was deemed a homicide because of the warning she previously received, WCPO-9 reported.
A warrant was issued for the mother’s arrest on Wednesday.
