OJ Simpson is among the many to comment on the incident of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars this past weekend.
Simpson said he sees a little of himself in Will, claiming that when he was in the spotlight, he also wanted to put his hands on a few people.
In a rant that he posted to Twitter, he said, “I think Will was wrong,” but I “understood the feeling,” adding, “In my life, I’ve been through a lot of crap, and I was raising two young kids, and every comedian in the country had an O.J. routine, and don’t think I wouldn’t wanna be slapping a couple of those guys.”
However, Simpson noted that he restrained himself, almost drawing the contrast between him and Will.
Simpson then said, “You gotta accept that it’s humor.” He said, “I didn’t even think that [Chris Rock’s joke] was all that egregious,” he said. “I thought it was a semi-unfunny joke.”
Additionally, Simpson claimed that if it were him, he would’ve been imprisoned for life without parole if he had pulled the same stunt as Smith after his arrest for armed robbery in 2007.
