A former teacher at Carnegie Public Schools in Oklahoma has been charged with second-degree rape after sexual relations between her and a student came to light.
Andee Lantz worked as a special education teacher when she began a relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Court documents reveal that the relationship began at the homecoming game. Lantz admitted to riding around with the student after the game and alleged the teen “leaned in and kissed her, and it went from there.”
According to investigators, News 9 reported that the two ended up at the teacher’s home, where they eventually had sex.
“It makes me sick to my stomach,” said one concerned parent, Susan Clark.
According to Clark, the inappropriate relationship started to get attention when a nude photo of Lantz began circulating the school.
Clarks’ children said the former educator was the “talk of the town.”
“In the beginning, I didn’t know if it was a rumor,” Clark said. “I called a couple of other moms, and they said it was true.”
When confronted by the superintendent about the photo, both Lantz and the student initially denied it, but things quickly spiraled, leading to Lantz’s confession.
Lantz also admitted to having sex with the teen on more than one occasion.
“A teacher should not be hanging out with a high school student, period,” Clark said. “I don’t think this type of behavior should be tolerated, whether from a male or female teacher.”
According to News 9, Lantz resigned back in November.
