Following Tori Bowie’s sudden death last month, it has now been revealed that the track and field star passed away during childbirth.
On Monday, TMZ shared a coroner’s report that confirmed the 32-year-old died from complications while “undergoing labor.” Bowie is said to have been about eight months pregnant when she died. On May 2nd, police responded to Bowie’s Florida home when her loved ones requested a welfare check after going days without hearing from her. When the Orange County Sheriff’s Office entered her home, they sadly found Bowie dead in her bed.
The track community has been mourning Bowie since news of her death broke. The iconic athlete is a three-time 2016 Olympic medalist for the USA. She landed a gold medal in the women’s 4x100m relay, a silver medal in the 100m, and one bronze medal in the 200m. In 2017, Bowie was dubbed the world’s fastest woman. She later won the World Championships in London with a timing of 10.85 seconds.
Let’s continue to keep her loved ones in our thoughts during this difficult time.
