Omar Mateen’s wife, Noor Salman, tells the FBI that she tried to stop her husband from shooting 100+ people, despite the fact she has personally driven her husband to Pulse Nightclub on a prior occasion so that he could scope out the place.
Even worse, Noor Salman also tells the FBI that she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster.
The FBI says that Salman is being cooperative in the investigation, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s safe. Authorities are considering filing criminal charges against Salman for failing to tell them what she knew beforehand. No decision has been made, but personally, had she said something, 49 innocent people would still be alive today.
27 victims remain hospitalized, 6 of which are in critical condition. According to hospital officials, the death toll could possibly rise because one or two victims are “profoundly ill.”
Omar Mateen was married twice, and was the father of a 3-year-old boy. His first wife Sitora Yusufiy, who was only married to Mateen for 4 months in 2009, spoke to the CNN about Mateen’s abusive past. She also says that, though he never admitted it, she believed he had “homosexual tendencies” and that his father previously called him gay in front of her.
At least four of Pulse’s regular patrons say they believe they saw Mateen there on several occasions before the massacre on Sunday, June 12. It was also previously reported that Mateen used a gay dating app to get ideas for where to party.
