‘On My Block’ Cast Members In Renegotiation For Salary Increase Parallel To ‘13 Reasons Why’ Cast

Four stars of the popular coming-of-age comedy “On My Block” are asking Netflix for a salary increase before production begins on season 3 of the show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, and Diego Tinoco are in “fierce contract renegotiation,” as the actors are hoping to receive “comparable” pay to supporting cast of another Netflix show, “13 Reasons Why.”

For the past two seasons, these four cast members have only received $20,000 an episode, which is significantly less than the $200,000 per episode “13 Reasons Why” lead, Dylan Minette made after successfully renegotiating an $80,000 per episode deal with the streamer. As for Minette’s co-stars, their salaries have also been bumped from $20,000 to $60,000 to $135,000 per episode.

Capri, Genao, Gray, and Tinoco are currently asking for $218,000 per episode for Season 3 of On My Block, but Netflix, in its latest offer, is only willing to pay $40,000 per episode.

Although Netflix doesn’t release viewership information, sources close to the deal argue that “13 Reasons Why” has been a better performing show, internationally and domestically.

Negotiations have reportedly been going on since May, but Netflix and the stars of series haven’t reached an agreement. Due to negotiation, there isn’t an official start date for production on Season 3.

Netflix has yet to comment.
