Los Angeles Police have arrested and charged Corey McClendon, a friend of Memphis rapper Yo Gotti, in the shooting of fellow Memphis rapper, Young Dolph.
Recently, it was reported that Dolph was shot in front of a Hollywood Hotel Tuesday afternoon, after the rapper got into a fight with members of Gotti’s crew. The two were both staying at the Loews Hotel in Hollywood before the altercation erupted between the their teams.
According to reports, the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m., in broad daylight in the valet area of the hotel, near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Ave.
“The argument between (Young Dolph) and the men escalated to a physical fight, and he fell to the ground. One of the men pulled out a gun and started shooting,” a spokeswoman for the LAPD said of the incident. “Young Dolph was struck but was able to get up and run into a local business.”
Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thorton Jr, was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meanwhile, McClendon, 43, was arrested shortly after the incident and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. However, it remains unclear if McClendon is the one who pulled the trigger. He is being held in lieu of $1-million bail. Although recent reports claimed Gotti was a person of interest in the shooting, the LAPD spokesperson said that was not true. Officials say they are still looking for two other men said to be involved with the incident.
According to reports, this is the second time this year that the rapper has been shot at.
