One person was killed and eight others injured when gunfire broke out during a Philadelphia block party early Saturday morning.Â
Philadelphia Police Captain Anthony Mirabella Jr. said they received multiple calls reporting the shooting just after 1:30 a.m. 6ABC reports that at least 38 shots were fired.Â
Victims were transported to local hospitals. One of the victims, a 19-year-old male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 5:40 a.m. CBS News reports that police are withholding the victim’s name pending an autopsy.Â
A 20-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the shoulder, and all other victims were hospitalized in stable condition. Police said the victims’ ages ranged from 17 to 51 years old.Â
Police are still unclear what the motive for the shooting is, and no arrests have been made.Â
The shooting comes just two days after another shooting in the same area that left a 30-year-old man dead.Â
“Praying for everyone involved in last night’s alarming and tragic shooting,” Philadelphia Mayor Kim Kenney said. “We know residents are frustrated with the violence that continues to plague our city, and our administration continues to do everything we can to stop the violence.”
