One person has died, and nine others were injured in a crowd stampede following a GloRilla and Finesse2tymes concert in Rochester, NY.
According to reports, crowd goers to rushed the doors after hearing what they believed were gunshots. However, Rochester police Lt. Nicholas Adams said there was “no evidence to support a shooting having occurred” inside the Main Street Armory.
The department reported that a 33-year-old woman died, and two other women were in critical condition.
In addition to the deceased woman, Rochester Police Chief David Smith said that EMS performed life-saving measures on two additional individuals.
The Democrat & Chronicle newspaper reported that private vehicles dropped several other individuals with non-life-threatening injuries at hospitals.
“This is a tragedy of epic proportions,” Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said Sunday night.
Just after midnight Monday, GloRilla addressed the incident, tweeting prior to the death and injuries being confirmed by Associated Press. “I’m just now hearing about what happened wtf,” the rapper said. She continued, “praying everybody is ok.”
Smith said law enforcement is looking into the number of attendees, code violations, or liquor license issues as possible contributing factors.
The public is being urged to release all videos of the incident or what they witnessed to the police.
“We are nowhere near completing this investigation,” Evans said. Adding, “We are going to hold people accountable for what happened last night, period.”
