Oprah Winfrey is speaking out about her explosive prime time interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
The high profile interview, which aired last month on CBS, saw Markle and Prince Harry accuse the royal family of racism, revealing that there were “concerns” over how dark son Archie’s complexion might be. Markle also opened up about feeling suicidal during that time.
The pair also opened up about son Archie not being given a title, breaking with the protocol.
Oprah revealed in an interview during the launch of The Nancy O’Dell Channel on talkshoplive® this week that she was surprised the couple was as open as they were during the interview.
“I was surprised,” Oprah said, according to People. “What? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there.”
“The reason why it was such a powerful interview … What makes it powerful is when you have somebody else who is willing to be as open, as vulnerable, as truthful as they were. The reason the interview was what it was because they answered the way they did,” she added.
