Ann Turner Cook, whose face adorned thousands of products as the original Gerber Baby logo, has died at the age of 95.
The company announced Cook’s passing in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies, “ Gerber wrote.
A neighbor of Cook had entered a sketch she had done in a contest that Gerber held to find a face for a baby food advertising campaign. Dorothy Hope Smith had planned to finish the drawing if it won, but the company fell in love with it as it was submitted.
Cook’s face went on to be the iconic symbol for the brand for more than 90 years.
