Oscar Mayer has debuted a line of bologna-inspired face masks for fans of the famous meat.
The company, which Kraft Heinz owns, has teamed up with Korean beauty brand Seoul Mamas to create sheet masks that resemble its popular cold-cuts. The quirky mask is for anyone who recalls biting holes in bologna and placing it on their face as a kid.
“Oscar Mayer has a legacy bringing levity to things that have gotten too serious, and beauty is a ripe territory to playfully subvert,” Lindsey Ressler, a senior marketing analyst at the brand, explained.
After arriving on Amazon Wednesday, the masks quickly sold out for just five bucks. On its release, the hot item was listed as Amazon’s “#1 new release” in beauty and personal care. Now, bologna fans are eager to get their hands on the masks.
“Due to unexpected incredibly high demand, we are working to get the sheet masks back in stock over the coming days,” Kraft Heinz said in a statement following the stock depletion.
The light pink face mask comes in packaging nearly identical to the Oscar Mayer sandwich meat seen in grocery stores. For this reason, the company placed a disclaimer on the back that reads boldly, “DO NOT EAT BOLOGNA MASKS.”
There are no Amazon reviews on the product yet, but it will be interesting to know if the masks smell like bologna or if they resemble it.
