Outkast and Salt-N-Pepa Inducted Into the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Outkast and Salt-N-Pepa are officially part of the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class, marking a major moment for hip-hop

the Atlanta duo made up of André 3000 and Big Boi, have been eligible since 2018. They first hit the scene in 1993 with “Player’s Ball” and quickly built a career that broke every boundary in hip-hop.

Albums like ATLiens, Aquemini, and Stankonia showed just how far rap could stretch, blending funk, soul, and rock without losing their Southern roots.

Their double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below went Diamond, and “Hey Ya!” became a worldwide hit. With six Grammys and over 20 million records sold, Outkast’s impact is still felt today. This year was their first time being nominated and they made it in on the first try.

Salt-N-Pepa have been eligible for even longer, since 2011. Their 1986 debut Hot, Cool & Vicious made them the first female rap group to go platinum.

Songs like “Push It,” “Shoop,” and “Whatta Man” weren’t just hits, they were major pop culture moments.

They helped prove that women could take over in a male-dominated hip-hop world. They picked up a Grammy in 1995 for “None of Your Business” and were honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Their bold style and lyrics opened doors that are still open today.

Outkast and Salt-N-Pepa didn’t just make great music they shifted the culture. Their induction this year shows how far hip-hop has come, and how important it is to honor the artists who helped build it.

The Rock Hall ceremony goes down November 8, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
