Adam “Pacman” Jones is coming clean about how he evaded the NFL’s drug testing policies during his playing days.
The former star cornerback, now 41, revealed on Deion Sanders’ We Got Time Today show on Tubi that he never once used his own urine for a drug test during his career.
When co-host Rocsi Diaz asked if he would have been a different person had the NFL been more lenient on cannabis, Jones made it clear that marijuana use never stopped him.
“Well, I ain’t never stopped smoking,” he admitted. “I’ve always smoked. When I played, after I played, now. I am a huge advocate of THC.”
Jones then confessed that he knew how to cheat the system, saying, “I was really good. People don’t know how smart I am. But, I could say it now—I don’t play no more—but like, I’ve never used my piss for a piss test, not one time.”
When Sanders pushed back, saying players wouldn’t be able to get away with that today, Jones insisted it was still possible if you knew what you were doing.
As Diaz tried to get Jones to reveal his methods, Sanders—who has long been against drugs and alcohol—shut down the conversation. However, Sanders did share his own views on THC and professional sports, arguing that leagues should stop testing for marijuana altogether.
“I don’t think no sport should be testing for THC, and I’m a big advocate of it,” Sanders said. “I’ve talked to the NFL, I’ve had meetings with [Roger] Goodell a couple of times.”
Jones, the sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, played for multiple teams, including the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals, before retiring after the 2018 season. His off-the-field issues led to suspensions and increased drug testing throughout his career, including missing the entire 2007 season due to league violations.
The NFL has since relaxed its marijuana policy, significantly increasing the THC threshold for a positive test from 35 nanograms per milliliter in 2018 to 350 nanograms today. While testing positive once led to suspensions and fines, cheating the test—as Jones admitted to doing—could have resulted in even harsher penalties.
