Last Sunday it was reported that Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson was driving in the suburbs just south of Charlotte at 7:45am when he collided with a vehicle driven by former Duke quarterback Anthony Boone. Alcohol was detected but Thompson, who was not injured, was under the legal limit, so he was just charged with driving left of center. According to Thompson, his cell phone fell under his feet, causing him to swerve into Boone’s lane.
Boone, on the other hand, was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He still remains in the hospital as of now with a broken hip and ligament and tendon damage to his hand.
“He’s doing good. He’s got a long road back, but he’s getting better,” Boone’s mother, Jenice said. “Praying every day, praying for strength.”
According to Boone’s mother, Thompson or the Panthers still haven’t reached out.
I hope Thompson does contact Boone, regardless of whether or not a lawsuit is to follow, it’s just the right thing to do.
