Passengers aboard British Airways flight 213 from London heading to Boston got quite a scare today when a fellow passenger attempted to open the emergency exit door mid flight. “A disturbed and unruly passenger tried to force one of the doors on the plane, but NOT the cockpit door,” a spokesperson for British Airways says.Â
The cockpit was secured and the passenger restrained. The flight landed around 1:30pm and was met by Massachusetts State Police officers. “British Airways Flight 213 reportedly on the ground. Troopers on jet bridge to take custody of restrained passenger, investigate incident,” Mass. State Police tweeted.
According to Massachusetts State Police, the passenger whose identity has not been released, is approximately 30 years old and was “unruly” and “intoxicated”. They do not suspect it was an act of terrorism. The airline released a statement: “Our customers and crew deserve to have a safe and enjoyable flight and we do not tolerate abusive behavior. Our crew have requested that police meet the flight in Boston due to an unruly customer on board.”
