Patrick Mahomes Sr. is facing arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
On Saturday, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was recorded as booked in Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas. Fortunately, no one was harmed in this incident, and Mahomes was later released on a $10,000 bond. However, under Texas law, Mahomes Sr. could potentially be sentenced to two to 10 years in prison, considering that this would be his third DWI offense.
Mahomes Sr. has a history with DWI offenses, having been charged in 2018, where he pleaded guilty and served a 40-day sentence in a county jail. Prior to that, in 1994, he faced charges related to a one-car accident. Additionally, in 2016, he was arrested and charged with public intoxication during a game between Texas Christian University and Texas Tech, the alma mater of his son.
The timing of Mahomes Sr.’s arrest is unfortunate, especially with his son gearing up for the Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. A former MLB pitcher from 1992 to 2003, he showcased his skills with the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Notably, he secured a spot in the Sioux Falls Canaries Hall of Fame. Currently, he hosts The Big Mahomes Show, a weekly podcast that delves into the world of professional sports, providing comprehensive coverage of all things sports-related.
