Patriots’ James White’s Father Dies In Car Crash, Mother In Critical Condition

Tragedy struck Sunday night ahead of the New England Patriots’ Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Just hours before kick-off, news surfaced of a fatal car accident involving Patriots RB James White’s mother and father, Fox Sports’ Andy Slater reported. The incident claimed the life of White’s father and left his mother, who was also in the car, in critical condition.

According to reports, White’s father, Tyrone, was a captain with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

White was told before the game and listed as inactive. However, several players from the league, including White’s teammates and Sunday night opponents, expressed their condolences and prayers for White’s mother to pull through.

“So heartbroken to hear the news of the tragedy of my great friend and forever teammate,” former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady wrote. “There are a few people that come into your life that do EVERYTHING the right way. James is one of them. Kind, gentle, loving, fiercely competitive, and hardworking. His parents raised an amazing son. And we are all grieving with James as he is going through this difficult time. Love you, my friend.”

“Praying for you, bro,” Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wrote, before sharing a statement to NBC.

“That’s horrible. Thoughts and prayers to the White Family,” Patriots writer Mark Daniels said. “James grew up with awesome parents. They allowed his best friend, Giovani Bernard, to move in when his family had problems, and he needed a place to stay. He was previously sleeping in a car. White’s dad was also his first football coach. My heart goes out to his family.”

Our condolences to the White Family, prayers to Mrs. White.
