Paul Pierce and Draymond Green have been on opposing sides of a back-and-forth that happened at the end of Paul’s career. In the early days of the rivalry between the Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers, Pierce instructed Blake Griffin to dunk over Draymond, calling him small.
Reflecting on the incident in a recent appearance on the Club 520 Podcast, Draymond confessed that what bothered him the most was being labeled as “small” by Pierce.
Green was called for a foul after he went for a pump fake from Blake Griffin. Pierce had him off his game, which made him even angrier. In a fiery retort from the court, Green retaliated to Pierce saying that he would not receive a farewell tour like the legendary Kobe Bryant.
During his interview on Club 520 this week, Green acknowledged the impact of Pierce in the NBA. As Green pointed out, one can’t earn the nickname “the truth” unless they are the real deal, right?
In the latest episode, Pierce finally shares his perspective on the viral moment, shedding light on his side of the story.
“We go into the game and I’m just seeing how you guarding Blake (Griffin) and I’m like ‘damn he’s being hella physical and he pushing on him’ I’m like what the hell going on,” Pierce said to Green. “Blake bust his ass man, you can’t go like that. Everybody knows you the head of the snake and if you go at the head of the snake, you got a shot. And I’m wolfin’ at you like ‘nah f&@$ that. I want everyone to know this is what we on this year. Like damn, this is the class of the league right now. You said what you said right? And the camera on me so when I and to be honest I did not hear what you said. People don’t know this but the microphone underneath the basket picks up everything. It makes it seem like you shouting something at me, but honestly, I didn’t hear it till after the game.”
Pierce commended Green for never changing who he was before and after winning. The beef between these two died in this dope interview that gave some context as to where Paul Pierce was and where he plans on going with his new show as well.
