Paul Rosenberg Steps Down As CEO And Chairman Of Def Jam

Paul Rosenberg has stepped down as Def Jam’s chairman and CEO.

Rosenberg has stood as the CEO and chairman of the long-standing label since 2017. According to Complex Media, the music manager will stay in the music industry but will focus his attention on his management company Goliath Artists and continuing to curate Eminem’s career.

Billboard reports that there was no negative backstory to Rosenberg’s resignation. Rosenberg was a pivotal person in the success of #Eminem’s career, and now that the Detroit rapper is back on the scene, Rosenberg wants to be a part of the process. Since Eminem’s comeback, the rapper has released three albums and started touring again back in 2018. Rosenberg told Billboard two years ago that, “the time is really great to be able to mold the brand and return it to its proper identity as the greatest hip-hop label of all time.”

Rosenberg has been credited for managing several hits No.1 albums like #KanyeWest’s “Ye” and “Jesus is King,” as well as bangers from #YG, #2Chainz and more. Other artists he’s managed in the past are #50Cent, #CypressHill, and others, according to Complex. He first became associated with Eminem during the recording of Slim Shady EP; he also appears on many of Eminem’s skits. He also partners with Em’s Shady Records.
