Peloton has decided to pause the use of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ music and his dedicated series on its platform. This decision comes in the wake of CNN releasing 2016 footage showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie, alongside numerous lawsuits accusing him of serious crimes, including sex trafficking and sexual assault.
The fitness company issued a statement after receiving a comment from a concerned member of its private Facebook group who said, “Dear Peloton, Your next purge needs to be all Diddy classes. Signed, women everywhere.”
Peloton responded, “We take this issue very seriously and can confirm Peloton has paused the use of Sean Combs’ music, as well as removed the Bad Boy Entertainment Artist Series, on our platform.”
Despite these legal battles, Combs has strongly denied all accusations against him. The situation escalated when CNN aired a disturbing video of an altercation between Combs and his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, at a now-closed hotel in Los Angeles. Following the video’s release, Combs issued an apology, though some questioned its sincerity.
Combs’ apology video on Instagram did not mention Ventura by name. Instead, he discussed his personal struggles and efforts to better himself, including therapy, rehab, and spiritual guidance, stating he had hit “rock bottom” following the incident with Ventura.
However, Ventura’s lawyers, led by Meredith Firetog of Wigdor LLP, dismissed Combs’ apology as self-serving and insincere. Firetog criticized Combs for initially denying the allegations and suggested his apology only came after his denials were proven false.
Ventura’s 2023 lawsuit provided disturbing details of the assault captured on surveillance footage, describing how Combs physically assaulted her while she was defenseless on the ground, even throwing objects at her. Though they settled out of court, Combs’ legal team stated the settlement did not imply an admission of guilt.
