Pennsylvania State Representative Mike Reese (R) died of an apparent brain aneurysm on Saturday.
According to The Hill, Reese, 42, had recently been re-elected to a seventh term in the state House in the November 3 election. He was initially elected into office back in 2009.
In a statement from Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, it was revealed that Reese “died peacefully with his family by his side” at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.
“On behalf of the entire House Republican Caucus, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Rep. Mike Reese,” the statement read.
“More than a friend to all of us, and one of our caucus leaders, Mike was a devoted husband and father. His wife, three young children, and extended family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Benninghoff wrote.
In early December, Reese tested positive for coronavirus. He released a statement saying that his symptoms were “mild and subsiding.”
He leaves behind his wife Angela and their three children.
