On Wednesday, a Pentagon official confirmed that there are over 650 possible UFO sightings are currently being looked into by the US government.
The details were revealed by Sean Kirkpatrick, head of the Defense Department’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, during testimony before a subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
According to Kirkpatrick, the sightings are mainly off the East and West Coasts of the United States, in the Middle East, and around the South China Sea.
An unidentified object was visible in recently declassified footage taken by an American military drone while it was performing surveillance in the Middle East. Slowed down footage shows what looks to be a metallic spherical object.
However, the Pentagon still doesn’t know where it came from or what it was doing.
According to the Pentagon, there is no solid proof that any of the still-unidentified items originated in space. However, they noted that a small portion of the objects appeared to be of advanced flight characteristics which indicates they may have been developed by China.
In a report released in January, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence revealed that there have been a total of 510 UFO sightings since 2005.
