A Pentagon police officer charged with two counts of murder on Friday faces additional charges stemming from an incident that happened last year. Takoma Park, Maryland police said charges are forthcoming after a video surfaced showing the officer pointing a shotgun in a woman’s face during an argument.
David Hall Dixon was arrested Friday and charged in connection with Dominique Williams and James Lionel Johnson’s shooting deaths. He is currently being held without bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Monday, CNN reports.
At the time of the incident that took place in 2020, Takoma Police responded to calls of a homeless woman swinging sticks at people in the lobby of Dixon’s apartment building. He told officers the woman hit him and waved an object at his dog.
Dixon told police that he used pepper spray and had possession of a concealed weapon but did not mention the shotgun. Dixon was off duty at the time. Takoma Police reported him to the Pentagon Force Protection Agency over his use of force but were unaware of the video footage.
“None of the responding officers were aware of the existence of the video that was recently circulating showing Mr. Dixon pointing a shotgun in the female’s face,” said Takoma Park Police.
