Georgia Senator David Perdue thinks it was “disgusting” for Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to record a phone call with Donald Trump in which Trump asked him to “find votes.”
“I guess I was raised differently,” Perdue said on Fox News, according to Politico. “To have a statewide elected official, regardless of party, tape without disclosing a conversation — private conversation — with the president of the United States, and then leaking it to the press is disgusting.”
The hour-long conversation that transpired between Trump and Raffensperger saw the president asking the secretary of state to find enough votes to overturn November’s presidential election results in his favor.
“I didn’t hear anything in that tape that the president hasn’t already said for weeks now since the November election,” he said. He refers to the claims of widespread voter fraud that Republicans allege took place, of which there is no proof.
On Sunday, Trump lashed out at Raffensperger on Twitter and made reference to the phone conversation between the two.
“I spoke to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger yesterday about Fulton County and voter fraud in Georgia. He was unwilling, or unable, to answer questions such as the “ballots under table” scam, ballot destruction, out of state’ voters’, dead voters, and more. He has no clue!” the tweet read.

Later that same day, The Washington Post and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution both had obtained audio of the call.
Perdue, along with fellow Senator Kelly Loeffler, have called for Raffensperger to resign. The two senators faceoff against Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in the highly anticipated runoff election on Tuesday. Democrats need to flip both seats to take control of the Senate.
