PETA is slamming Ciara and Russell Wilson for not adopting their dog from a shelter.
On Mother’s Day, the couple announced they had welcomed a puppy into their family. The Wilson’s celebrated their newest addition, naming him Bronco after Russell’s new NFL team in Denver. While many people and even Ciara felt the doggy was “the sweetest surprise,” PETA did not.
The animal rights organization caught wind of the Wilson’s new puppy and were not happy. According to TMZ, PETA believes that Bronco is a purebred dog and was likely purchased from a breeder. The organization describes breeders in an unflattering way saying, “mother dogs are often locked inside filthy cages and bred over and over until their bodies give out.”
While speaking with the outlet, PETA referenced some of Ciara’s songs to further call out the couple.
“One, Two Step mistake by killing a shelter dog’s chances of finding a home,” the organization said. “PETA is calling on the couple to Level Up on kindness by adopting a companion for this pup instead of fueling the homeless-animal crisis.”
Ciara and Russell have not commented on the situation.
