SNL stars Pete Davidson and Colin Jost just purchased an old Staten Island ferry that they plan to turn it into a “live entertainment event space.”
The pair are Staten Island natives who bought the retired passenger ferry that was once operated by the New York City Department of Transportation.
Davidson and Jost, in partnership with Manhattan real estate broker and comedy club owner Paul Italia reportedly paid $280,100 for the ferry named the John F. Kennedy at an auction this week.
Italia told the New York Post that they have “grand plans” for the ship. “The idea is to turn the space into a live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art, et cetera,” he said.
Italia also admitted that the plans are in the “early stages” because the vessel needs a major overhaul, but the trio made sure to purchase it at auction because they did “not [want] to see this thing go to the scrapyard.”
