Pete “Hot Commodity” Davidson has snagged his own comedy series produced by ‘Saturday Night Lives’ boss Lorne Michael.
According to Deadline, Pete’s ‘Bupkis’ show will be based on the comedian’s life. The outlet describes the series as a “raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete’s eyes.”
The upcoming series will have a vibe similar to Larry David’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ It will also allow viewers a chance to see Pete’s real personality through storytelling and raunchy sketches.
While the project is still in the planning stage, ‘Bupkis’ is being pitched to different streaming services like Amazon Prime and NBC’s Peacock.
In addition, Davidson will be co-writing the show along with his collaborators, Dave Sirus and Judah Miller. ‘SNL’ creator Lorne Michaels’s Broadway Video and Universal Television company will be producing the series.
Davidson’s show joins a list of other shows produced by Michaels. In the past, the ‘SNL’ creator produced Aidy Bryant’s “Shrill,” Cecily Strong’s “Schmigadoon!” Michael Che’s “That Damn Michael Che” and the “Bust Down” with Chris Redd.
There hasn’t been any word of the timeframe regarding the show’s premiere. However, in the meantime, Pete is currently working on his upcoming horror film “Home.”
