There’s a petition to permanently close the free-fall ride that led to 14-year-old Tyre Sampson’s death.
Last week, Tyre Sampson died after falling 430 feet from a free-fall ride at ICON Park in Orlando, FL. Now, his cousin, Shay Johnson, is calling for the ride to be completely shut down. “I would like this ride to be taken down,” Johnson told Fox 35. For now, the ride has been closed as further investigation into the incident proceeds.
“My cousin lost his life over this ride. I don’t feel it’s safe, and feel it should be shut down before someone else’s family have to go through what we are going through,” Johnson continued.
Since the child’s death, supporters have gone to the site of Sampson’s fall, sharing flowers and other items to honor his life. Several people have already signed the petition.
“We have kids ourselves, so this is someone’s child when it comes down to it. And any type of sympathetic feeling that you have as a human being you will try to come down here,” says TikToker Isaiah Edwards.
