Female lyricists Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion dropped their visual masterpiece to their epic collaboration “Wap” on Friday.
It was a proud moment for females and women of color to witness the two women pushing forward in the music industry. However, many people were left puzzled and displeased as to why Kylie Jenner was included in the 4-minute video, which also included appearances from singer Normani and rappers Mulatto and Sukihana.
As a result, a petition was created on Change.org to get Kylie’s brief but impressionable cameo removed. It has since garnered over 37,000 signatures, claiming, “the video was perfect until we say K and I wanted to throw my phone.”
One person commented: “I was happily enjoying my daily cup of brown women until that culture stealing colonizer showed up and made me spill. Thank you.”
It seems like the disinterest for the 22-year-old makeup mogul comes from claims that she is a “culture vulture.” Another person wrote Kylie “doesn’t even remember how her own complexion looks.”
There have been several memes created to throw shade at the appearance, as many are upset with a white woman pulling focus from an iconic collaboration of two Black artists.
However, Cardi B quickly came to Jenner’s defense after fans of “Bardigang” criticized the move, the Daily Mail reports.
I wanna say thank you to every woman that was apart of my video! The fact that you made time in your schedules means alot to me! It was so important to me to include different women, that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.

Although she didn’t mention Kylie directly, Cardi posted on Twitter, “I wanna say thank you to every woman that was apart of my video! The fact that you made time in your schedules means a lot to me! It was so important to me to include different women, that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.”
The Wap video features Cardi and Megan breaking it down in multiple rooms inside a mega-mansion, as they interact with snakes and tigers in risqué scenes. Near the two minute mark is when Kylie is shown striating down the hallway in a Cheetah outfit. It’s logical as to why people are confused where she fits in among the musical artists involved. Still, nevertheless, Kylie is within the group of top elite women of her time and generation, which may be the reason Cardi and Megan chose to include her.
The video has received over 24 million views on YouTube, and despite who is in the video, we must agree it’s a visual work of art.
