Phaedra Parks gave her son the ultimate birthday gift this year: the ability to make passive income. The Married to Medicine star gave her 13-year-old son Ayden $150,000 to invest in real estate.Â
“So he said for his birthday, he either wanted a dirt bike or a way to make money. And so I said, ‘Well, definitely not gonna give you a dirt bike to kill yourself,” she explained to People. “I will give you $150,000 for you to buy a piece of property,”
She added, “And so now he’s basically trying to figure out if he wants to do a little multi-unit duplex, you know, [start] his own little rental properties.”
The 49-year-old told the outlet that she came from a middle-class family that did not have the resources to set her up for success at the level she is able for her children.Â
“So while they probably would have wanted to able to do that, they didn’t have the means to give a kid $150,000 to buy something,” the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum said. “It just wasn’t like that back then, especially for people of color.”
Parks told the outlet that both of her sons are interested in “anything about making money in cryptocurrency.” As for Ayden, she says aside from cryptocurrency, he is big on looking into becoming a millionaire before turning 25.
“They can be a bit bougie,” she joked. “They have great manners. I’m very proud to call them mine.”
