The Hollywood Reporter announced early Tuesday morning that Fox Studios has picked up “Atlantis,” a musical film inspired by the life of Pharrell Williams.
Williams and Mimi Valdes will produce the project through their ‘I Am Other’ company, with Gil Netter producing for Netter Productions.
“Atlantis” is described as a Romeo and Juliet-style story, with musical elements, based on Williams’ childhood in Virginia Beach.
The upcoming project marks Williams’ second film production with Fox Studios, following 2016’s “Hidden Figures,” which was nominated for three Oscars, including Best Picture.
Michael Mayer, known for Tony Award-winning Broadway production “Spring Awakening” is set to direct, as Martin Hynes of “Toy Story 4,” is attached to write.
