It looks like music isn’t the only thing rapper, Pharrell is producing.
His newest film, “Roxanne Roxanne” made its original debut at last month’s Sundance Film Festival, and earlier today, Netflix released the official trailer to the public.
The film followed the short career of Roxanne Shanté, an 80s rap battle MC from Queens, NY.

The 14-year old was well on her way to stardom, and the film captures the hardships Shanté faced during her rise to fame while battling with the hardships of growing up in the projects of Queensbridge, NYC.

Featured in the film is breakout star, #ChanteéAdams who plays Roxanne, Oscar winner, #MahershalaAli who plays her boyfriend, and #NiaLong, who plays her mother.

The film is set to premiere in select theaters in NYC and LA, starting March 23rd, with a nationwide premiere on Netflix shortly afterward.
