Louis Vuitton has announced producer and hip-hop fashion guru Pharrell Williams as their next menswear head designer.

On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Louis Vuitton was finally ready to fill the role previously held by the late Virgil Abloh. The Off-White founder was named creative director of menswear in 2018, becoming the first African-American to serve in the position. After his death in November 2021, his LV designs became immortalized, with the company continuing to recognize him in nearly every campaign. Now, it looks like Williams will be the one to continue Abloh’s legacy with the luxury line.

While many recognize the 13-time Grammy award winner for his massive music catalog, he is more than qualified to oversee the men’s realm of Louis Vuitton. In 2003, he, along with his partner Nigo founded the wildly successful streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club. He is also co-owner of Human Made and G-Star Raw denim. Additionally, Williams has collaborated with Moncler, Tiffany & Co, Chanel, and several other notable high-end names.

Colm Dillane, the founder of KidSuper, was chosen by Louis Vuitton in January to collaborate on the label’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection. Many believed that LV might’ve named him as the head of menswear, though it appears they were only seeking a collaboration with the designer.

Williams and Louis Vuitton took to Instagram to announce the exciting news to fans. The brand shared a photo of the 49-year-old draped in an LV blanket, praising the creative mastermind.

“Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as its new Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris,” read the caption.
