A man in Philadelphia has been accused of stabbing six of his relatives while they were asleep.
At around 4 a.m. on Friday, a 29-year-old man allegedly stabbed six of his family members with kitchen knives in a home located on the 3000 block of North Front Street in Kensington. The New York Post and NBC News reports the members were between the ages of 26 and 46.
The man reportedly went from room to room in the two-story home. The victim who was stabbed the worst was a 46-year-old woman, who was identified as the mother of some of the victims. She is currently in critical condition with head and neck wounds, police say. The five other family members are in stable condition in the hospital.
“It’s a violent scene,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “One of the knives that’s all metal is actually broken, which goes to show how violently these individuals were being stabbed.” Police found two blood-covered knives in the home.
Officers found the alleged attacker just a few blocks from the scene. He’s been taken into custody after receiving treatment for cuts on his hand. His name or the identities of the victims have yet to be released, the New York Post reports.
