A Philadelphia man was fatally shot by two gunmen who ambushed him while he was sitting next to his wife in their driveway early Thursday.
A 34-year-old man backed a pickup truck into a driveway when two men exited a waiting car and opened fire. CBS News reports that the man was shot at least 15 times.
The victim was transported to Einstein Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“This 34-year-old was shot in the chest torso; when police found him, he was unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the pickup truck,” said Philadelphia police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We found 30 spent shell casings on the sidewalk and on the front lawn and near the victim’s driveway.”
According to Small, the woman was not injured in the shooting.
“There was another family member in the front passenger seat, and for some reason, she was not struck by gunfire,” he said.
Witnesses told investigators that at least two men were waiting outside of the man’s home. The vehicle they were sitting in is described as a white sedan.
So far, the suspects have not been identified, and no arrests have been made.
