In Philadelphia, police are investigating an alleged plot to attack the Pennsylvania Convention Centre where the election ballots are being counted.
Police received a tip that either an individual or a group was travelling from Virginia in a Hummer truck with intentions on attacking the convention centre.
Since then a man has been taken into custody and a weapon was found. It is not known what charges the individual is facing.
According to reports, the group that the police were tipped off about maybe a family.
Many eyes are watching Pennsylvania as workers continue to tally the hundreds of thousands of mail-in-ballots for the 2020 election.
So far in Philadelphia, 95% of votes have been counted. With Donald Trump leading with 49.5% and Joe Biden with 49.2% of the votes.
Tallying the votes is happening against a backdrop of legal challenges and inflammatory rhetoric by Trump who has baselessly claimed that there is widespread voter fraud.
Trump’s campaign is alleging that the city officials were not giving access to Republican count observers, so they tried to stop the count in Philadelphia. But a federal judge urged both sides to come to an agreement.
During a press conference on Thursday, Trump accused the Democrats of trying to steal the election.
With tensions high and protests and counter-protests occurring outside ballot counts, there are worries that conspiracy theories and other allegations may lead to more violence.
