Phylicia Rashad Dismisses Alleged Cosby Rape Victims To Reporter

Cosby co-star Phylicia Rashad has been met with a lot of criticism after she shared some choice words about Bill Cosby’s rape accusers.

Paramount hosted a lunch event for “Selma” at the Metropolitan Club where showbiz411.com writer, Roger Friedman, ran into the Tony Award winner. Figuring no one knows Cosby better than her, he asked about the rape allegations. “Forget these women,” Rashad said. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.” It’s also a legacy that’s important to Rashad’s pockets, as re-runs have since been pulled off the air.

Now, let’s keep in mind that this is all hearsay. We don’t know if Phylicia ever said these things and she has yet to confirm these are her beliefs, but if she did say them (to a total stranger no less) this was a bad call. Showbiz411 also says that when asked about Janice Dickenson and Beverley Johnson Phylicia responded, “Oh, please,” and alludes that someone is out to get Bill Cosby, and it’s working.

Again, we are going off the word of one individual. There are no recordings. This could all be some made up ploy to get hits to his website BUT if in fact Phylicia Rashad did say these things, she’s probably done more harm to her own legacy than good. While it is quite alright to have an opinion and even defend a dear friend, you must be careful with the sensitivity surrounding rape victims, asI’m sure she has a lot of rape victims as fans. If it comes out that Cosby is , in fact, guilty of these heinous crimes, Phylicia will meet a ton of backlash. But again, why would she be saying all of this to a stranger? Was she drunk?
