As a tribute to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pizza Hut offered its signature dish to a limited number of customers within the New York City subway system.
The underground deliveries were recently organized as a promotional event for the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” film.
“Pizza Hut and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a longstanding history that goes back to the ’90s. Bringing the two together again for a new generation was a no-brainer,” Pizza Hut’s chief marketing officer, Lindsay Morgan said.
Select Manhattan customers received an opportunity to experience the delivery by sending a text message containing a turtle emoji to a designated phone number. This text message served as an order for a Pizza Hut meal. Additionally, the company says the meals will be delivered in “just minutes” to a specific pizza drop zones.
A YouTube video showcased subway commuters expressing astonishment as they received their pizza. This underground delivery experiment also paid homage to the crime-fighting turtles’ home in the sewer system of New York City.
“We wanted to pay homage to the Turtles’ origins and their love of pizza. While also infusing modern touchpoints and a fun, creative take on pizza deliveries,” Morgan added.
