2016 crept up on us quite quickly. By now you should have been thinking about how you plan to spend these 366 days. If you’re like me, you love traveling. Something about being away from home brings about a certain level of peace. If you’re like me, you probably put “Travel More” on your vision board a million times. Why not plan something special with you and your boo so you can be at “peace” together?Â
There are a lot of advantages to taking a baecation. Let’s begin with the obvious, vacationing together allows you an opportunity to get to know each other better. It doesn’t matter if you’ve known someone all of their life, you can always learn something new. Traveling as a couple, in most cases, brings you closer because it forces you to spend time with each other. The bonding that happens during a baecation is unmatched. Â No kids, no work, no distractions, just you and your love in an unfamiliar environment, relying on each other for human interaction. A lot of vacation destinations even offer couples only resorts and activities. I’ve found that sex outside of the home is often better too. I’m sure that can be scientifically proven somewhere.
Vacationing with your mate also brings lasting memories; something we take for granted while we’re working 50 hour weeks. You can always remember your first time. Your first time swimming, your first time eating sushi, the first time you had sex, we always remember. Why not share some ‘firsts’ with the love of your life? Do something you’ve never done before with someone you care about. How about treating them to something they’ve never done before? The stresses of our every day life cause us to forget that life should be about memories and experiences. We are so caught up in the humdrum, predictable schedules that we have, that we aren’t taking a moment to actually treat ourselves to some of the amazing wonders of the world. Consider vacation destinations that neither of you have been to. Consider trying new foods or taking a class together. Never been snorkeling? Now’s the time to try. The laughs, the tears, the experiences are something no one can ever take away from you.Â
Lastly, if you’re ever questioning whether you should stay in your relationship or not, a vacation will open your eyes. Often times vacationing with your boo will open your eyes to who they truly are. Sometimes, who they truly are, is someone you don’t want to be with. Have you ever gone out of town with someone to find out that they are cheap, irresponsible and inconsiderate? I have and let me tell you, it was quite the eye openers. Taking someone out of their element allows them to let their guard down and somehow they manage to show you who they really are. You should consider this the next time you are having second thoughts about being with someone. Worst case scenario, they’re not who you need to be with, but at least you got a trip out of it.
So when you’re making those vacation plans for the year, consider bringing your mate on a couple. A good baecation in 2016 will make for an awesome 2017.
