While on the road for his Antagonist Tour, Playboi Carti found himself in legal trouble during a stop in Utah. The rapper was cited for misdemeanor assault after a limo driver accused him of a physical attack during a ride to rehearsal.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 2nd, when Carti and his entourage were en route from the Waldorf Astoria in Park City. The limo driver, Carl Reynolds, claims the ride took a turn when Carti and his girlfriend got into a heated argument in the back seat, allegedly over a personal matter.
Reynolds says he tried to de-escalate the situation by pulling over and suggesting Carti switch vehicles. That’s when he alleges Carti punched him unexpectedly as the rapper’s girlfriend was stepping out of the car, leaving Reynolds with a swollen jaw and whiplash symptoms.
He also claimed Carti had earlier threatened both him and his girlfriend. While Reynolds didn’t see Carti physically strike her, he reported that she was hunched over and holding her chest.
Police were called to the scene and documented Reynolds’ injuries. Carti was officially cited for assaulting the limo driver on October 9th. Another driver who witnessed the incident also works for the same limo company.
Reynolds is considering legal action but says his main concern is preventing Carti from harming anyone else.
The rapper has not responded publicly to these allegations.
